Bulldog Pottery at Burroughs-Chapin Art Museum
Legacy takes a Detour

Samantha and Bruce at the Art Museum

Bulldog Pottery was one of seven clay studios featured in a show representing the contemporary ceramics being produced in Seagrove, NC. The show was on exhibit at the Franklin G. Burroughs- Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum in Myrtle Beach, SC. The title of the show “Legacy takes a Detour” emphasized the diversity of ceramics that can be found at the Seagrove Area Potteries. The museum’s curator, Kay Teer, selected the seven studios to represent some of the progressive clay work being created in the Seagrove area. Quoting the museum’s catalog written for the show, “While none of the 11 potters from these seven selected studios has a Seagrove family legacy stretching across generations, each nonetheless is creating a legacy in his/her own right. Whether the works are whimsical, functional, or purely decorative, they are significant in the ongoing Seagrove tradition that spans well over two centuries.” For further information about the Burroughs-Chapin Art Museum, www.myrtlebeachartmuseum.org, or call 843-238-2510.
